macarons from vanille patisserie in chicago

what is a macaron? a macaron (not to be confused with a macaroon) is a french pastry made from egg whites, ground almonds, sugar, and icing sugar.

although wish i was in france eating macarons, i am not, so i got these from the vanille patisserie in chicago's online store. they're somewhat expensive, but worth it. they arrived in a box like this:

macaron box

macarons in a row (front to back, coffee, raspberry, chocolate, and pistachio)

chocolate, raspberry, and pistachio flavored macarons

pistachio macaron

YUM raspberry macaron

this guy is really good at making macarons:

These are my favorite cookies hands down. So pretty but more importantly, so delicious.
